How do I cancel a domain name?

Cancelling free domains

Before you cancel a free domain, consider very well whether you really want to cancel your domain. In many cases, it will not be possible to immediately re-register the domain. 

To cancel (delete) a free domain name please do the following steps:

Step 1: Go to My Domains (Services > My Domains)

Step 2: Click the Manage Domains button 

Here you will see information about your domain, including the expiration date.

Step 3: In the dropdown menu titled Management Tools you will find an option to Cancel a Domain.

Click that link. This will take you to a confirmation page.

Once confirmed, it will take up to 30 minutes before the domain name is removed from Freenom's root servers.

Please note that Cancel Domains only apply to Free Domains, and not to Paid Domains.

Cancelling paid domains

Paid domains cannot be cancelled from your domain panel. We generally do not allow cancellations of paid domains, but if you are one hundred percent certain you want to cancel your paid domain, please send us a support ticket and we will see how we can assist you. 

We'll need the following information:

• The domain name you'd like to cancel.
• The reason you want to cancel the domain name. 

Once you have submitted a ticket, we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
